I’m highlighting my writing on this site.

I came to poetry in a roundabout way. An early interest in visual art led to a Painting major at RISD, studio practice, and then art handling for an art museum. I’ve always been an avid reader and writer, drawn to visual artists who employ text, and text itself eventually became the focus of my work. My current manuscript investigates the nature of perception, cognition, gaze, identity, and aesthetics. I suppose I’ve come full circle.

Book design has become my medium for visual expression—I’ve considered myself primarily a writer for years now. Do I think of myself as an outsider, though? Yes, and my favorite writers are outliers, underdogs, misfits to the literary norm.
